Katara continues to act with kindness and empathy for others, fulfilling a mission of peace, healing, and balance around the world. In particular, she is interested in her home, the Southern Water Tribe, and their sibling tribe in the North—but she doesn’t restrict her purpose to any particular area. She will do her best to aid anyone and everyone in need. PCs are likely to find her in any place where her attention and help might make a real difference.
She’s most likely busy at work in the Earth Kingdom or either of the Water Tribes, though of course she has a special attachment to the South. She would still help the Fire Nation if they needed it, but in general the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes are much worse off than any given place in the Fire Nation, and much more likely to benefit greatly from her help. She will also seek out and oppose any great injustice or oppressive tyrant, anywhere in the world.
no because let’s talk about how this description in avatar legends about katara’s post-war pursuit is so accurate to what she would actually do following the canon. katara at her core is a humanitarian. from katara-centric episodes such as imprisoned and the painted lady, we see how she is committed to uplifting the voices of marginalized communities, as well as helping them out by any means necessary. following the war, i don’t see katara as someone who would situate herself in one place, whether that’s in the southern water tribe, the north, or the earth kingdom. i see her as the type to actively become involved in the post-war and decolonization efforts across the world, travelling from community to community in the water tribes and earth kingdoms to assess the state of the citizens. of course katara would take an interest in politics and pass laws - her many encounters on the ground with these marginalized communities - as well as her travels during the war - offered her a deep perspective into the hardships that they face and the resources that they require to sustain in the decolonization era. at the same time, i don’t see her as an individual just committed to politics, sitting on a seat the whole day to pass legislation. i believe katara would grow too bored of a lifestyle like that, if that was her only occupation for the rest of her life. rather, I see katara heavily involved in patient care and treatment, such as running a hospital, in her spare time. i see her managing a very busy and active lifestyle of being a politician and lawmaker, an activist, a Master healer, and of course - as alluded by TLOK - an excellent instructor.
such an excitable, happy boy! the best in the business!
[ ID: Sokka from Avatar: The Last Airbender. This image of Sokka has him on a light blue background. He is wearing his regular Water Tribe clothing, with his brown boots. In his right hand he holds his boomerang, and his left falls to his size. He is jumping into the air, one leg kicked up. He is smiling and covered in freckles, a happy expression on his face. End ID. ]
Here we see a nice parallel and contrast between the relationship between Hakoda and Sokka, and the relationship between Zuko and Ozai.
We have a nice camera framing parallel between our two pairs (for the most part, I left out the lingering shot we get of Ozai after Zuko parts the curtains), with the way way Zuko and Sokka are shown parting the curtains. And immediately, we see how the show runners tried to contrast the atmosphere between these two scenes.
In “The Guru” the atmosphere is welcoming and familiar. We see Hakoda planning with his generals, and Sokka smiles as he sees his father for the first time in two years. For a few moments, the nervousness he felt earlier vanishes and we get yourself a really nice, happy family reunion.
In contrast, the way we see Zuko reunite with Ozai paints a much different picture. It’s dark, Zuko is nervous throughout the entire scene. and the way the camera focuses on Ozai, even when we see his face, paints Ozai as a far more unkind than his Water Tribe counterpart.
And, to top it all off, we later see how Zuko and Sokka’s insecurities play out, with Sokka being reassured by his father that he’s always bee proud of him, and Zuko feeling like he still needs to make sure he has his father’s approval.
Iroh being portrayed as someone who must be wise and in the right all the time is super boring actually, I miss when he and Zuko used to take turns on the braincell
Every people talk about how wise Iroh is, I think of him nearly poisoning himself to death by drinking tea he knew could be deadly.
That’s a sharp outfit, Chan. Careful. You could puncture the hull of an empire-class Fire Nation battleship, leaving thousands to drown at sea. Because it’s so sharp.
